Thank you for your interest in adopting an animal through Central Rescue & Rehab (CRR). All animals placed through CRR have received a full medical exam, been spayed or neutered, (if applicable) and have been immunized and heartworm tested.

We suggest that if you wish to have a very young puppy that you understand the commitment required. A young puppy does not fit into everyone's lifestyle. Sadly, we often receive young dogs from homes that were unable to meet the demands of raising a puppy. Please do not buy a puppy from a pet shop as you may be supporting a puppy mill by doing so. We can help you find one in a rescue near you.

We cannot stress enough the importance of seeking a dog whose personality and needs that will match the environment you can provide. We are here to help you with that process.

The procedure for adopting a dog through CRR is as follows:

1.       Read the dog's description on this website to understand his or her energy level and needs. We will discuss the dogs behavior and needs with you. If we know that a dog is not good with cats or others dogs, we will include it in the description. In most cases, if the dog's history is unknown, we will not adopt him or her out to a family with young children.

2.       Complete the online application.

3.       A volunteer will contact you discuss the responsibilities of owning and caring for the rescued dog for whom you are interested. At CRR’s option, if you have already adopted from us, and your circumstances have not changed, this call may not be necessary. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if, in our judgment, the home situation is not compatible with the needs of the animal or if the breed is not suitable for the applicant. All humans, as well as canines that live in the home must meet the dog in question before a home visit will be executed. Our time is precious, thank you for understanding.

4.       An adoption fee of $175 is requested for adult dogs at the time of the adoption. Dogs under six months old are $225. Ask about our "Seniors for Seniors" program for the adoption of qualifying senior dogs. The adoption fee helps defray the costs incurred while the animal is in our care. Expenses normally incurred include a full medical exam, medical treatment, spaying and neutering, a full set of vaccinations, heartworm test and heartworm preventive, fleas and tick preventive, boarding, and food. This fee is non-refundable.

5.       After adoption, please do not ever hesitate to contact CRR with questions or problems. It is easier to address such problems as they occur rather than at some later time. We ask that you stay in touch with us and maintain your current address with us in the event your animal is ever lost and tracked to CRR.

6.       If, for any reason, the adoption is not satisfactory, CRR requires that the dog be returned to CRR. The animal must not be sold or given away. CRR retains the right to reclaim any rescue animal that is neglected, improperly cared for, or allowed to roam free.

Our organization is run solely by volunteers. These volunteers give numerous hours to CRR in addition to their own work and family duties. Their only reward is in knowing that they have helped to provide warm and loving homes to animals in need.

Please have patience with these hard-working, caring individuals.
